Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner Strengthens its Practice Areas Construction/Plant Construction and Dispute Resolution in Cologne: Jörn Zons joins FGvW from Hogan Lovells

On 1 May 2015, Jörn Zons will join our Cologne office as additional partner. Previously, he acted as a counsel at Hogan Lovells in Düsseldorf. He is our second addition from Hogan Lovells, following Arnt Göppert who joined us in 2013 as partner with focus on corporate law and real estate transactions.

Managing partners Barbara Mayer and Carsten Laschet are excited that „Jörn Zons will contribute to the continuing growth of our expertise in the practice areas construction and plant construction and also add to our team of experienced litigation lawyers“.

Jörn Zons focuses on project work and dispute resolution. He often advises clients from the energy sector, as well as contractors in connection with infrastructure projects, offshore wind projects and other complex construction and plant construction projects. His work includes project structuring, drafting and negotiating project contracts, legal project management, including claims management as well as project-related and other dispute resolution in court proceedings and national and international arbitration proceedings.

Jörn Zons will closely cooperate with Uwe Steingröver. Together they will strengthen the practice field construction and plant construction, as well as dispute resolution. Our managing partner in Cologne, Carsten Laschet “expect(s) [that Jörn Zons addition will] strengthen our capacity in these areas and at the same time create synergies with the practice area of product liability, which provides advice in the field of machine- and plant construction from a different angle”. Barbara Mayer adds: “Jörn Zons personality and his practice area perfectly fit the cooperative and entrepreneurial approach of our law firm”.

Jörn Zons remarks: “In Friedrich Graf von Westphalen I have found a law firm which offers high level specialised legal advice to commercial companies and at the same time has streamlined structures which allow me to concentrate on my work and my clients without the usual internal conflicts of interest.”
